Government Boys Higher Secondary School, Gandhi Nagar, has been renamed after its former principal, Late Kuldeep Kumar Badyal. The institution will now be known as “Shri Kuldeep Kumar Badyal Memorial Government Boys Higher Secondary School, Gandhi Nagar.”
The renaming was announced during a formal ceremony in which Education Minister Sakina Itoo unveiled the new name plaque and paid tribute to the late educationist.

It was also mentioned that last year Chief Minister Omar Abdullah had announced, during the unveiling of the late principal’s statue on the school campus, that the institution would be renamed in his honour.
The Minister further said that teachers are the foundation of society and such educationists continue to inspire future generations. The event was attended by MLA Bahu Vikram Randhawa, DC Dr. Rakesh Minhas, Director School Education Jammu Naseem Javed Choudhary, Director Health Services Jammu Poonam Sethi, along with family members of the late principal.
