Jammu: The Election Commission has almost completed the voter list revision process for the upcoming Panchayat elections in the region. According to officials, more than 95% of claims and objections have already been resolved, while the remaining cases will be cleared by May 15.

The final voter list will be officially published on May 20. Only voters whose names were registered in the electoral rolls by May 1 will be eligible to cast their votes in the Panchayat elections.

Officials believe that the number of voters may increase compared to previous elections. At the same time, the government is also expected to take a decision regarding OBC reservation, which will play an important role in seat allocation for Panchayat and municipal elections.

After the publication of the final voter list, the Election Commission will submit its report to the government, following which discussions regarding the election dates are likely to take place.
