Petrol-Diesel Prices Hiked, CNG Also Becomes Costlier

The burden of inflation has increased once again across the country. The government has raised petrol and diesel prices by up to ₹3 per litre, while CNG prices have also been increased by ₹2 per kilogram. The new rates came into effect from Friday morning.

In Delhi, petrol now costs ₹97.77 per litre and diesel ₹90.67 per litre. CNG prices have reached ₹79.09 per kilogram. Rising global crude oil prices due to the Iran crisis are being cited as the main reason behind the hike, with oil companies reportedly facing huge losses.

Experts say fuel prices may rise further in the coming days, which could make vegetables, fruits, groceries, transportation, and school bus fares more expensive.

Congress leader Rahul Gandhi also criticized the price hike, saying that “the government made the mistake, but the public is paying the price.”
