Rajesh Dhar Appointed Manager of Indian Team for Afghanistan Tour


Jammu: Rajesh Dhar, a Physical Education Lecturer in the Youth Services and Sports Department, has been appointed as the manager of the Indian men’s cricket team for the upcoming Test and ODI series against Afghanistan.

The tour will begin with a one-off Test match scheduled from June 6 to 10 at Maharaja Yadavindra International Cricket Stadium, Mullanpur (New Chandigarh). This will be followed by a three-match ODI series on June 13 in Dharamshala, June 17 in Lucknow, and June 20 in Chennai.

A BCCI Level-A certified cricket coach, Rajesh Dhar has served in several important roles within the Jammu & Kashmir Cricket Association (JKCA). His previous assignments include Team Manager in the Ranji Trophy, Manager of the Senior Women’s Team, Manager of the Under-23 Men’s Team, Under-19 Coach, and Assistant Coach of JKCA’s Syed Mushtaq Ali T20 team.

Apart from his cricketing roles, Rajesh Dhar is also a Physical Education Lecturer and cricket selector in the J&K Government’s Youth Services and Sports Department. His strong experience in player development, tournament management, and logistics is expected to strengthen the team’s off-field operations and ensure smooth coordination during the domestic schedule.

A well-known figure in Jammu & Kashmir’s cricket fraternity, Rajesh Dhar has contributed to the sport as a player, coach, commentator, mentor, lecturer, and sports columnist.

Senior officials from the Youth Services and Sports Department and JKCA congratulated Dhar on his appointment, describing it as a proud moment for the region’s sporting community. Rajesh Dhar also expressed gratitude to the BCCI for giving him the prestigious opportunity to serve the national team and voiced confidence that more deserving candidates from JKCA would gain recognition in the future.
