Emergency silt flushing operations are set to begin at the Salal Reservoir of Salal Hydroelectric Station in Reasi, following an advisory issued by the administration and project authorities.

According to officials, spillway gates will be opened from May 21 to May 30 at 9 AM daily, which may cause the Chenab River water level to rise by 2–3 feet suddenly.

In view of safety concerns, movement of people, vehicles, and rafting activities along the riverbanks has been strictly prohibited during this period.

Authorities have urged the public not to visit riverbanks and to keep livestock away from the area. Several upstream and downstream villages have been placed on alert.
